ASEC is serving sisters in 10 sub-Saharan African countries, providing access to educational opportunities. There is much to celebrate regarding the work of ASEC and the impact of sisters who are benefiting from our programs. Yesterday: [Ghana] In May 2019, volunteers from Chestnut Hill College and Marywood University will spend three weeks volunteering in schools and rehabilitation centers in the west African nation of Ghana under the auspices of ASEC.

2 months ago: [SouthSudan] Through a grant from the Hilton Foundation, ASEC is providing education and supplies to children in camp sites in South Sudan.
3 months ago: [Zambia, USA] Sr. Joan Chisala, CSJB of Zambia is the third sister scholar accepted for a six month research fellowship to learn applied research skills in the apostolate at the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA), Georgetown University.
5 months ago: [Ghana, Kenya] Partners Workshops held in Kenya and Ghana bring together SLDI stakeholders to discuss the future of the SLDI program.
5 months ago: [Cameroon, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia] African women religious are using sustainable agriculture to solve problems like malnutrition and food insecurity in sub-Saharan Africa.
6 months ago: [Tanzania] A celebration is held for the 2018 graduating class and the 50th Anniversary of the Bigwa Seminary Secondary School.
7 months ago: [Kenya] A recent alert, issued from the Diplomatic Security Service, has forced the cancellation of ASEC's 2018 Service Learning trip to Nairobi, Kenya.
7 months ago: [USA] April 25-26, 2018: ASEC’s annual Advisory Board and Board of Directors Meetings took place at ASEC USA headquarters located on Marywood University’s campus in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA.
7 months ago: [Zambia] Sr. Clementine Phiri uses her experience with the SLDI program to help spread the word about caring for the environment.
7 months ago: [Kenya, USA] ASEC’s annual Service Learning trip will take place from May 20-June 9, 2018. A total of 13 participants will be traveling to Kenya and staying with the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi (LSOSF), a missionary community, where they will take part in service learning activities within the LSOSF compound and throughout Nairobi.
8 months ago: [Kenya] ASEC renews partnership with CUEA through a Framework of Reference (FOR) to continue to support the education of religious sisters in Africa.
9 months ago: [Nigeria] The Nigeria Conference of Women Religious (NCWR) dedicated a day to praying for a resolution to the injustices happening within the country.
9 months ago: [Nigeria] A fellowship at Georgetown University's Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) is teaching Sr. Florence how to apply research techniques to increase knowledge of the Catholic faith and ministries in Africa.
