Sr. Joan she seeks to integrate the charism and educational vision of the School Sisters of Notre Dame into the life of the campus community. Before her ministry in mission work, which has been on‐going for over 10 years, she was a professor of theology at Mount Mary for 20 years and received her doctorate in theology and education at Boston College in 1988. As a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Sister Joan isshaped by the international reality of her Congregation and has participated as a delegate in two General Chapters, one in Germany and one in Brazil. She has also participated in programs and/or given workshops in Italy, Guam and Japan.
With SSND presence in six African countries, Mount Mary University has arranged with the SSND Province of Africa to provide the opportunity for sisters to earn their degrees while the Central Pacific Province provides the living expenses. Sister Joan was facilitator of the community on campus where the international sister‐ students are housed.
