Earlier this year, ASEC offered a Basic Technology workshop in South Sudan for the first time, with 13 sisters in attendance. Although the workshop ended before the recent conflict arose in the country, ASEC is closely monitoring the political situation and stability of the country. An additional Basic Technology workshop and a Superior Generals training were scheduled for August and September, respectively, and it is our hope is that those activities can take place later this year. However the situation is unpredictable and safety is a priority. Sr. Rose Jane Adiero, Program Director in South Sudan, thankfully is safe after traveling to the northern region of the country. While the conflict seems to have somewhat stabilized, Sr. Rose has not been able to return to Juba. Our heartfelt prayers and wishes for a peaceful solution are with Sr. Rose and all the people of South Sudan.
