ASEC Staff Training in Tanzania

ASEC Program Directors and Coordinators from ten countries gathered together in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for a week-long staff training.

ASEC one week staff training held at Giraffe Ocean View Hotel in Dar es Salaam Tanzania, came to a close on Friday January 18, 2017.

The meeting that drew Country Directors and Coordinators from Nine (9) African Countries which included; Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Nigeria.  

Emphasized on the strategic plan which was presented by the Board Members yet to be ratified.

Information on SLDI/HESA program was simplified which made participants affirm the facilitators from the USA for the job well done.

The meeting came timely to induct the new coordinators to their roles and duties in ASEC programs.

Participants expressed their gratitude on the way in which the training was conducted and simplified for them by the Executive Director Sr. Jane Wakahiu, Jennifer Mudge, Rosemary Shaver, Brighid Blake, Terry Peters from USA and Naomi Wambui from CORAT in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Executive Director highlighted that from 2007 to date ASEC has empowered over 5,300 religious women in Africa from 487 Congregations from 38 countries although they are based in 10 countries.  She also expressed happiness in the manner in which ASEC has grown and developed in Africa, owed to the full support of the Members of the Board, Staff and Religious Superiors.

On behalf of the Religious Women in Africa, Sr. Gaspara Kashamba Chairperson of Tanzania Catholic Association of Sisters (TCAS), expressed appreciation for the great work ASEC is doing to empower and uplift Women Religious activities in Africa.

Speaking on the same occasion, Fr. Raymond Saba Secretary General for Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), on behalf of the Bishops applauded ASEC for the commendable job done for Religious Women in Africa and assured ASEC of their support.
