Sr. Mercy Machona, CMFC
Program Coordinator - ZimbabweSister Machona Mercy, a Zimbabwean religious sister and member of the Congregation of the Missionary Daughters of Calvary (CMFC), brings extensive experience in secretarial and administrative roles within religious congregations. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Strategic Management and Corporate Governance. She also holds a Master's in Spiritual Accompaniment and Vocational Discernment from Escuela de Formadores (Salamanca), Universidad Comillas, Madrid, and a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Business Management from Midlands State University, Zimbabwe.
Since 2021, Mercy, CMFC, has served as the Secretary General for the Conference of Major Religious Superiors in Zimbabwe. In this role, she is responsible for fundraising, meeting planning, correspondence management, and compiling reports for donors and stakeholders. She works closely with various desks within the Conference, including Talitha Kum, the Justice Coalition of Religious (JCoR), and Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC). Her involvement in these areas includes addressing peacebuilding, environmental sustainability, community rights awareness, and safeguarding. This work has given her valuable insights into desk operations and supported smooth transitions between executive committees.
Before her current role, Mercy served as Secretary in the Bishop's offices for the Dioceses of Hwange (2011–2016) and Gokwe (2005–2010), where she handled administrative duties such as minute-taking, petty cash management, and archival maintenance.
In addition to her professional experience, Mercy holds qualifications in the Theology of Religious Life, Spanish language, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), accounting, and word processing. She is proficient in English, Shona, Ndebele, and Spanish, and is highly computer literate. Her personal interests include connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and continuous learning.
