Angelique “Cindy” Mutombo is the Senior Program Officer, Catholic Sisters Initiative (Africa). In this position, Mutombo plays an important role in helping the Foundation grow and develop its grantmaking in key priority areas of the Catholic Sisters Strategic Initiative, with a focus on global Catholic sisters, including international and human development issues in Africa. Mutombo most recently worked as a program manager for economic and social justice at the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa, based in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She has worked on international education, monitoring and evaluation, and policy projects. Mutombo has over 15 years of experience working on issues of inclusive education, informal traders, food security and women’s rights, using a creative activist approach. She has a master’s degree in urban and environmental planning from Tufts University in Massachusetts and a bachelor’s degree in earth science from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio.
