Accounting Coordinator

Position Overview

The Accounting Coordinator will report to the Finance Manager and support in the day-to-day operations of the Finance Office while collaborating regularly with colleagues across the organization and in Africa. This role is responsible for processing accounts payable and receivable, preparing and recording weekly international wire transfers, reviewing credit card and expense reports for accuracy, and maintaining organized financial documentation. The Accounting Coordinator will also provide essential audit support by gathering and preparing requested testing documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices, reimbursements, and payments (accounts payable).
  • Record deposits, monitor outstanding balances, and assist with
  • Prepare and record weekly international wire transfers with accuracy and
  • Review credit card and expense reports to ensure correct coding and
  • Maintain organized financial records and support filing/documentation
  • Assist with audit preparation by gathering requested documentation and organizing testing samples.
  • Partner with Programs, Mission Advancement, and Monitoring & Evaluation teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager and Office Manager on special projects and administrative financial tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or administrative
  • Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, or expense reporting
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Drive) preferred.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop (or similar accounting software) strongly
  • Cross-cultural experience is a plus and may be gained through educational, professional, or personal experiences (e.g., study abroad, living abroad, missionary or service work, international coursework, or working across cultures).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and
  • Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and ASEC’s
  • Familiarity with grants management is a plus
