Efficient, Confident and Competent in Her Accountant Career

Wed, Feb 20, 2019

Sr. Florida receives two promotions in her accountant career after completing her ASEC-sponsored education.

Sr. Florida Kaigalula is a member of the indigenous Religious Congregation of Daughters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (DOLPH) in the Bukoba Diocese of Tanzania. Through ASEC’s Scholarship Program, Sr. Florida’s education was sponsored by generous donors allowing her to attend the Cardinal Rugambwa Memorial University College (CARUMUCO). Here, she studied in a two-year diploma program to learn accounting.

Prior to receiving a scholarship, Sr. Florida also participated in ASEC’s Sisters Leadership Development Initiative (SLDI) program, where she attended three years of workshops and began her accountant career.

“The knowledge I got from the finance course shaped my capability of working. I became more efficient, confident and competent in performing various responsibilities,” said Sr. Florida.

Soon after completing the course, Sr. Florida was promoted and to Project Coordinator of her congregation, where she was able to work with different organizations within Tanzania and beyond.

“Economically, it uplifted the sustainability development of our congregation and the people I was serving.”

But Sr. Florida’s promotions didn’t end here. Because of her success, she was assigned as person-in-charge of the Centenary Pastoral Centre in the Bukoba Catholic Diocese. Here, she was help those in need and be at the forefront of solving social, economic and spiritual crises in her community. She attributes her success in both these positions to her ASEC-sponsored education.

“Education is the fundamental of higher performance and high productivity. It is through education that am motivated and empowered to use the acquired skill to meet my desire of serving God globally.”

In the future, Sr. Florida plans to continue her accountant career while empowering African girls, women and society with, “confidence, competence and integrity.”

Join us in supporting women and girls towards economic expansion.

Sr. Florida is the perfect example of the power of education. When we educate just one sister, we have the opportunity to influence development and the eradication of poverty in Africa.
