We are Thrilled to Graduate on ASEC’s Silver Jubilee

Sr. Josephine Bwekembe with Canossa St. Joseph Nursery and Primary School Lweza pupils

The Sisters Leadership Development Initiative (SLDI) program equips Catholic Sisters in Africa with essential skills in administration, finance, technology, and leadership. Graduates emerge as confident leaders, ready to inspire and uplift their communities through innovative self-reliance projects and improved ministry services.

Today, we stand proud graduating during the Silver Jubilee celebration of the African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC). Our journey through the Sisters Leadership Development Initiative (SLDI) program has been profoundly enriching, enabling us to become better Sisters and impactful leaders in our ministries across various institutions in the Catholic Church.

This special occasion emphasizes our gratitude to ASEC and the generous hearts that have sacrificed their resources to enhance the education of Sisters in Africa. Together, we celebrate not only our achievements but also the tireless dedication of those who made this journey possible.

Considering our Administration experience, education and skill empowerment are revolutionary. We learnt administration and finance through theoretical underpinnings and practical applications, giving us lifelong skills.

As SLDI students, we studied basic computer skills, finance and accounting, project proposals, conflict management, time management, effective communication, report writing, human resource management, resource mobilization, social entrepreneurship, and team building. Our learning was enhanced by eminent professors under ASEC-Uganda leadership.

These hands-on activities not only reinforced our grasp of business principles but also fine-tuned our critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities, shaping us into confident leaders. We’ve learned to inspire others, offering them reasons to aspire for a better life.

We learnt the value of teamwork, adaptability, creativity, and invention in this program. We now use technology and data to solve problems. We are ready to satisfy society’s demands and improve lives through self-reliance projects and leadership.

As we look to the future, we are confident that the knowledge and skills we have gained will serve as a solid foundation for our success. Our academic journey in Business Administration has been transformative, and we eagerly await the opportunities that lie ahead.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes foremost to God, the Hilton Foundation, and all who have sacrificed to educate African Sisters. We extend our sincere thanks to the ASEC team in Uganda and our superiors for empowering us to develop our skills.

Empower the Next Generation of Transformational Leaders

Graduates like these Sisters are transforming communities across Africa through skills gained from the Sisters Leadership Development Initiative (SLDI). Their education enables them to lead ministries, uplift lives, and foster self-reliance in underserved regions. By sponsoring the education of a Catholic Sister, you can directly contribute to empowering women religious with the tools they need to create sustainable change.
