Catholic sisters provide crucial services in Africa on issues from education and health care to women’s rights and the environment. African women religious often try to meet the needs of the community without formal training. Higher Education for Sisters in Africa (HESA) allows sisters to pursue degrees that allow them to become administrators at schools, nurses and health workers and other professionals that serve their communities. Through HESA, the African Sisters Education Collaborative helps Catholic sisters undertake essential ministries with the proper credentials, knowledge and skills.
