Sisterhood is a video documentary series profiling seven congregations of women religious around the world and their mission, ministry, communities and charisms. Available to watch now on Salt + Light Media’s website.

Sisterhood, a partnership project between Sale and Light and Loyola University New Orleans and funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, features 7 30-minute videos including interviews, history and the story behind the mission of the profiled congregations. Filming the documentary took 18 months and travel to several continents. The videos “are really a tremendous tribute to women religious who are on the front lines, who are running the field hospitals of our time,” said Basilian Fr. Tom Rosica, chief executive officer of Salt and Light Media.

Rosica also noted, “Some would say this is a vocational promotion project. It is that, but it is much more… In some parts of the world, the West, it might be thought that religious life might be dying. This presents religious life as thriving. Anyone who says, ‘Religious life is dead, there are no more nuns,’ watch ‘Sisterhood.’ “

Here are the seven parts to the series:

  • Part 1: The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph
  • Part 2: Society of the Sacred Heart, Uganda/Kenya Province
  • Part 3: The Congregation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
  • Part 4: Congregation of Sisters of Our Lady of Kilimanjaro
  • Part 5: Sisters of the Holy Family
  • Part 6: Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Benin City, Nigeria
  • Part 7: Daughters of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Chí Hòa
