This year’s theme for World Day for Consecrated Life is “year of the family”. Learn what this means to Sr. Juliana, our Programs Coordinator in Zambia.
Consecrated women and men in Zambia have been challenged to live a life that is encountered in the family by encouraging, loving, caring and being at the service of one another. (Exodus 19:1-8). Speaking at Marian Shrine in Lusaka over the weekend during the celebrations of world day for religious, Sr Beatrice Njau said that the family is the foundation of everything in the world. She further says it is important to have one mind and heart in Jesus Christ thereby making their commitment relevant and overcome conflicts in communities which often help the religious to know and understand each other better.
World day for consecrated life is celebrated each year on the Feast of the presentation of Jesus in the temple when he was given to God becoming the order of all who are consecrated to God. The fulfillment of the prescription of the law,” The light to enlighten your people.”
With the theme: The year of the Family, the emphasis was the need to intensify interactions between the religious and family members in order to share their respectful charism that they enjoy and assist families with spiritual treasures and christian values hence promote vocations.
The function attracted a number of religious sisters, priests, brothers and the lay faithful in Lusaka.
