Programs Coordinator – Uganda

Sr. Monica Ajok Opige is a member of the Little Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Gulu. She became a religious nun in 2010 and subsequently pursued a Bachelor’s in Education at Uganda Martyrs University, graduating as a Teacher of English Language and Literature in 2013. After three years of teaching at two different schools, she returned to Uganda Martyrs University to complete a Master’s in Education through ASEC's Higher Education for Sisters in Africa (HESA) program, which she successfully finished in 2019.

Sr. Monica began her role as ASEC Programs Coordinator in 2020, finding it a rewarding experience to work with the sisters who join the ASEC programs. Her passion lies in helping students, supporting the most vulnerable, and bringing hope to those in need. She enjoys reading and watching movies to gain insight into people's experiences and how to assist those in similar situations. In her free time, Sr. Monica writes and engages in small-scale agriculture to benefit the community.
