Using education to teach others

Sr. Mary Nalule writes thanking ASEC for helping her to achieve her dream of studying Education to achieve her dream of becoming a school teacher.

Sr. Mary Nalule graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education through the HESA program’s online-onsite track on November 17, 2017 from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, or CUEA.

Sr. Mary is a member of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (MSMMC) in central Uganda and studied education in order to become a teacher to educate young girls.

“My passion for education is matched only by my love for the youth, particularly the girl-child,” said Sr. Mary.

Sr. Mary spent her first year studying at Marywood University in the United States before transferring to CUEA and graduating with First Class Honors. She feels that she has been encouraged, motivated and enriched by her experience in the program.

Sr. Mary is now using her degree to assist in educating young girls at the Bukulula Girls School in Masaka Diocese in central Uganda. She feels that the HESA program has brought her closer to fulfilling her career goals. Sr. Mary is sincerely grateful to the HESA program for helping her to achieve her dream of becoming a secondary school teacher.

Sr. Mary plans to make education a recurring theme in her life. If given the chance, she is eager to begin a Master’s program. More importantly, Sr. Mary plans to continue to work hard to provide holistic education to the youth that she encounters in her life.
