Through ASEC’s Sister Leadership Development Initiative (SLDI) Finance Course, Sr. Rebecca Adhiambo Otieno, MI, gained critical financial management skills that empower her to lead with confidence, ensure transparency, and strengthen the sustainability of her congregation’s mission.
With the support of ASEC, HESA alumna Sr. Margaret Wanda, DOJGS, became a trained nurse and leader, serving as Superior General of her congregation and a board member of CASA-K, where she integrates healthcare and compassionate leadership to uplift both her congregation and the elderly Sisters in her care.
Through ASEC’s education programs, Sr. Josephine Kwenga, SJT, has gained the leadership and resource management skills needed to strengthen her congregation’s sustainability—ensuring its mission continues to uplift communities for generations to come.
With the support of ASEC’s HESA program, Sr. Caroline Wambui Gachoki, SMI, earned her Master’s Degree in Administration and Planning in Education—gaining the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills to make a lasting impact in her community.
The African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC) is delighted to announce that Sr. Draru Mary Cecilia, LSMIG, Ph.D., our esteemed Executive Director, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Notre Dame Award for Outstanding Contributions to Catholic Education. This prestigious award, established in 2003 by the University of Notre Dame, recognizes individuals who have dedicated their lives to sustaining and strengthening Catholic education.
The ASEC Founding Mothers Research Project highlights the vision and efforts of ASEC’s Founding Mothers, whose collaborative leadership established an organization that has empowered over 10,000 Catholic Sisters in Africa to serve millions.
