As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, we reflect on the important work of Higher Education for Sisters in Africa (HESA) alumna Sr. Grace Akunna John-Emezi, HHCJ. Now serving as a hospital administrator in Nigeria, Sr. Grace is deeply committed to promoting health awareness, specifically breast cancer advocacy.

Sr. Grace has been leading impactful outreach efforts to educate those in African communities about the importance of early detection and routine screening. From schools to congregations, she has led talks delivering life-saving knowledge. Through ASEC’s HESA program, Sr. Grace developed the skills and confidence to lead her initiative, a powerful example of how education and leadership gained from ASEC can drive change.
