2020 ASEC Annual Board Meetings take place virtually

Mon, May 18, 2020

April 27-28: ASEC’s annual Advisory Board and Board of Directors Meetings took place via Zoom due to social distancing restrictions.

Advisory Board Meeting

On Monday, April 27, 2020, ASEC’s Advisory Board meeting began with an opening prayer by ASEC Advisory Board Member Sr. Lisa Olivieri, SSJ, Ph.D. Jennifer Mudge, Assistant Director of Evaluation and Tara Lopatofsky, Research and HESA Evaluations Manager presented evaluation data on ASEC’s programs, including:

  • Sisters Leadership Development Initiative (SLDI)
  • Higher Education for Sisters in Africa (HESA)
  • The Scholarship Program
  • Service Learning
  • Research Initiative
  • Institutional Capacity Building (ICB)

The presentation was followed by an interactive question and answer session between ASEC Advisory Board Members and staff. Several guests were also invited to this year’s Advisory Board meeting to provide input and guidance on ASEC’s program activities.

Afterwards, Sr. Jane Wakahiu, LSOSF, Ph.D., Associate Vice President of Program Operations and Head of Catholic Sisters Initiative, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, gave a presentation about Hilton’s initiatives for 2020 and beyond.

Closing remarks were given by ASEC Executive Director, Sr. Draru Mary Cecilia, LSMIG, Ph.D..

ASEC’s Advisory Board has no legal responsibilities and is formed to give advice and recommendations to a governing board and management. The Advisory Board is structured to provide non-binding, but informed guidance. It functions in an advisory capacity and works to provide counsel in the plans, implementation, development and growth of ASEC’s programs. The Advisory Board makes recommendations regarding a program’s expansion, implementation and outputs. It is an integral part of experiential learning activities for all ASEC programs.
