ASEC held its annual board meeting on April 25, 2017, in Scranton, Pa. The SLDI-HESA Advisory Board meeting was held the day prior, April 24.
Representatives from each of the eight entities that comprise ASEC were in attendance at the annual Board of Directors meeting held on Marywood's campus. Also attending were representatives from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation as well as ASEC Regional Directors Sr. Lina Wanjiku Ndung'u, SE (East & Central Africa) and Sr. Clementina Obembe, OSF (West Africa). Advisory Board Members Sr. Florence Nwaonuma, SSH and Sr. Anna Mary Henrietta Nyangoma, ESM also traveled from Africa to participate in the planned events. During their stay, the visiting sisters also visited partner colleges and universities in Philadelphia and Scranton, Pa.
The Advisory Board meeting held on April 24th began with an opening prayer. Attendees watched our newest video, ASEC: Our Growth. Our Goal. Our Vision. After the video, presentations about SLDI and HESA were given by Jennifer Mudge, Evaluation Manager, and Tara Gregory, HESA Program Evaluator, respectively. In the afternoon, advisory board member and staff separately participated in a focus group ran by Brad Meyers and Sr. Jane Wakahiu of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. That evening, members and ASEC staff enjoyed dinner together to honor the work of Sr. Jane Wakahiu, our former Executive Director, for her service.
The next day, ASEC staff gathered at breakfast to welcome members of our Board of Directors for their annual meeting. The meeting began with a prayer and some words from Sr. Mary Persico, Marywood University’s president and board member. The Board of Directors then viewed our ASEC video and proceeded to discuss their agenda items throughout the day.
