HESA awarded $3.85 Million to Educate Sisters in Africa

The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation awarded the African Sisters Education Collaborative and Marywood University a $3.85 million grant for the Higher Education for Sisters in Africa (HESA) project.

The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation awarded the African Sisters Education Collaborative and Marywood University a $3.85 million grant for the Higher Education for Sisters in Africa (HESA) project.

HESA is envisioned to provide opportunities for Catholic sisters in seven sub-Saharan African countries (Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Zambia) to access higher education through distance modalities at Marywood University and Chestnut Hill College in the United States and partnering with the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA), Kenya and the Catholic University College of Ghana (CUCG), in Ghana.

HESA will serve a total of 185 sisters acquiring four-year degrees and another 48 will acquire two-year diplomas at institutions including
